What do a rabbi, a bishop a minister a nun and an activist have in common?  They’ll all come together in Jamaica Plain on October 28th to discuss how to build a climate change movement with hope. Acclaimed climate change activist Bill McKibben, founder of the international movement will join Sr. Alice Laffey of Holy Cross, Rev. Dr. Jim Antal, President of the Mass. Conference of the United Church of Christ, Rabbi Katy Allen of Ma’yan Tikvah in Wayland and Rt. Rev. Bud Cederholm, Bishop Suffragan, (retired) of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts on Sunday, October 28th at the First Church in Jamaica Plain, Unitarian.

The occasion will be the 10th Anniversary Celebration of Massachusetts Interfaith Power and Light, a non-profit that carries out its mission of providing a religious response to climate change by helping faith communities, their members and the public reduce their carbon footprints and energy bills, and by promoting public policies that will lead to a sustainable future.

Many people, candidates and elected officials remain stuck in arguments about details that distract from the urgent need to create and implement effective public policies on climate change, energy efficiency and renewable energy.  Can Massachusetts be a light unto the nation?  The spirit of Massachusetts has swept the nation before.

The program will include:

  • SUSTAINABILITY FAIR – Meet Advocacy Groups, Energy Efficiency & Solar Companies.
  • BILL McKIBBEN on Building a Movement with Hope:
    • Dialogue with Massachusetts faith leaders
    • How to Become a Builder of the Movement;
    • Energizing Congregations to be Climate Change Leaders; and
    • How to Shrink the Energy Bill and Carbon Footprint at Your Home and House of Worship.
  • Light Refreshments.

All Are Welcome – Donations Gratefully Accepted
