The resolution of a community-dividing dispute in a San Francisco neighborhood has lessons for JP, one sociologist told the crowd at the most recent JP Forum. Beth Roy, a longtime mediator in the Bay Area, gave a talk titled, “Mediating Gentrification: How One Community Created Unity Out Of Divisiveness.”
The 5th annual State of Our Neighborhood, organized by JPNET, JPNDC, SJPHC, ESMS, JP Forum and numerous neighborhood organizational co-sponsors was held on Febuary 26th. Over three hundred people came together to discuss housing justice issues within Jamaica Plain and Boston. The audience heard from several local officials as they committed to promote just-cause evictions, secure more affordable housing and fight for livable wages.
The current issue of nuclear power was one of safety and not energy, but regardless, nuclear energy in the form we use it now is not a “green” alternative.
