Retrofitting Our Residences: Beyond Fossil Fuels

Wednesday, June 7 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

First part of our mini-series TRANSITION TO GREEN LIVING covers sustainable ways to retrofit the energy and space of our homes.

Co-hosted by our very own social innovators, Mother’s Out Front.

Boston’s Climate Action Plan includes the ambitious goal of cutting our collective carbon footprint 80% by 2050. How will this be possible? Since most of the buildings that will be in use in 2050 are already built, we will not be able to meet this goal without dramatically rethinking how we heat and power our existing homes and other buildings.

How is an 80% reduction in emissions by 2050 possible?

What technological breakthroughs would we need (and expect) to see to achieve reductions of this scale?

What can homeowners do today, within the next few years, and as a longer term plan to sharply reduce their use of fossil fuels?

What is the role for tenants?

What are some of the most exciting opportunities on the horizon that will help speed a more rapid transition to a fossil fuel-free future?

What city and state legislation and policy initiatives must we actively support?

*Remember to bring your own set of questions.
